Barry Portman
Owner/Director/CEO
Barry Portman
Barry Portman has more than 25 years of oilfield experience in operations and management, anchored by hands-on field experience in all sizes and scopes, from a small startup to a multi-billion public company. His operational background includes production, drilling, completions, plant & midstream, facilities, maintenance, and integrated service management. Portman recently founded BCP Resources focusing on development of legacy assets in the Permian Basin, where his knowledge and skillset can be applied to generate top tier returns for investors in a new private fund, Lodestone Energy Partners LP. To couple with private funds, Portman built a partnership focused on long term PDP leverage with Community National Bank, one of the largest E&P lenders in the Permian Basin. BCP Resources’ first acquisition was a quick success, a small five well position where production increased 20x in the first few months.
Portman most recently served as Chief Operating Officer for Blackbuck Resources, a Private Equity backed portfolio company in midstream water management where he successfully converted a former service-oriented water business to become a top tier player in the Permian Basin E&P landscape, achieving industry leading performance in HSE, asset runtime, OPEX, and CAPEX spending. Enterprise value growth of 300% and EBITDA growth of 800% were anchored by completion of the largest and most technologically advanced produced water injection well and disposal facility in the state of Texas with a maximum handling capacity of 140MBWPD, and a $70MM water infrastructure acquisition from a major E&P involving over 40 tank batteries, 100 MBWPD capacity, and nearly 70 miles of gathering lines.
Prior to Blackbuck, Portman served as Vice President, Production Operations, and Permian General Manager for Pioneer Natural Resources. During his tenure at Pioneer, Portman served in several operational roles and his experience and leadership was a critical part of restructuring and refocusing on Midland Basin shale development. His team executed over 500% growth in a 5-year timeframe, spanning over 700 employees in 4 office locations, production of 450 MBOEPD (over 70% oil) and 700 MBWPD of produced water from more than 6,500 wells and 1,900 tank batteries. His massive field operation quickly emerged as a peer leader in minimizing operational downtime while maintaining the largest acreage position in the Midland Basin. Prior to joining Pioneer, Portman was a business owner where he focused on using his unique experience to gain operational efficiencies and successfully completed large turnaround projects in oil and gas sector where he engaged both private equity and debt financing. Before beginning his entrepreneurial effort, Portman worked operations for Marathon Oil Company and Kinder Morgan, where he focused on horizontal drilling development, various EOR methods including CO2 and high pressure gas injection, and production using a variety of lift methods, in particular expanding the usage and reliability of Gas Lift and ESP in the Permian Basin.
Portman is active in the Permian community, serving as a Board Advisor for S.H.A.R.E, a nonprofit organization supporting families with special needs, and previously serving as a Board member of Bustin’ for Badges, raising funds for local police departments. As a long time Permian resident, Portman’s leadership style supports employees to be involved in their communities and actively volunteer for a number of charitable organizations.
Portman has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, where he was one of the founding students in the entrepreneurial internship program, which was recognized by the Indiana Business Journal in 1996. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and an Eagle Scout who received the Order of the Arrow Vigil Honor, the highest mark of distinction and recognition.

Stephanie Gray
Engineering Supervisor
Stephanie Gray
Stephanie Gray attended Texas Tech University and graduated in August of 2021 with her Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as minors in math and geology. During her time in school, she was a member of Alpha Omega Epsilon, a professional and social sorority for women in STEM, and Pi Tau Sigma, the international honor society for mechanical engineers. She was also a member of the Texas Tech chapter of ASME, SPE, and various other honor societies and groups.
While completing her degree, Stephanie spent three summers with the operations department of Pioneer Natural Resources, an independent oil and gas exploration and production company. The first of these was in the Environmental Air group, where she reviewed TCEQ guidelines and air permits for facilities and built files to upload emission data for each event. She also prepared notes and action items for Spill Prevention Team meetings and Air Emission Reduction Team meetings as well as conducting field visits to follow up on environmental LDAR action items for VRU's, Enardo Valves, and flare systems. The second summer was spent with the Workover Operations department, where Stephanie completed her supervisor well control certification and conducted field visits to active workovers, assisting with workover procedures. In addition, Stephanie entered and compiled Peloton WellView reports to assist foremen with tracking AFE and LOE costs, attended contractor safety meetings, attended workover monthly reviews, and actively participated in safety programs. In her final summer with Pioneer, Stephanie worked as an Engineering Intern in the Vertical Operations department. She analyzed production BHA components of vertical wells. Stephanie concluded her summer by presenting a TAC and BHA redesign evaluation with $620M annual savings.
Stephanie also had the privilege of expanding her knowledge of and experience in manufacturing by working for Johnson Controls, an international leader in diversified technology and multiple industries. Stephanie organized and oversaw more than 20 projects and provided training and advising to her group of junior interns and document specialists. These projects included expediting Job Operations Breakdown creation, introducing or improving ergonomic applications to processes, and a Valve Packaging Procedure modification with $1.6M annual savings projected to increase annually.
During her final year of school and after completing her degree, Stephanie worked for Imperative Chemical Partners as Frac Lab Technician. She processed samples and collected data using a variety of techniques and equipment to determine fluid packages for optimum performance during drilling and completion of wells. She also helped create SOPs, train new technicians, and develop chemicals for the lab.
In her previous role, Stephanie made the switch from service to operations, aiming to learn as much as possible about operating wells from POP to P&A. She worked for Earthstone Energy as an Operations Technician before transitioning to Production Engineer with focus on the Delaware Basin. Stephanie completed three months of field observations in her area of interest: West Eddy county, New Mexico. She then moved to a traditional Production Engineer role where she monitored production to make workover recommendations, worked closely with field personnel in the area, and tracked LOE for further analysis and improvement. She also took part in many classes, field visits, shop tours, and special projects both individually and in collaboration with her fellow engineers.

How we Began
In the beginning, BCP Corporation started as a residential property management company that one of the company owners, Cindy ran from a home office. From there, banking relationships were established and when Barry, the other company owner was leaving his full-time job, he asked the bank to finance 5 vertical wells. They did & BCP Resources, LLC was formed from there with Barry using his Oil & Gas experience & expertise to purchase a field in Reagan & Upton counties. Then a small office was utilized in one of the rentals that was a small single wide mobile home on some acreage that the company owned. One short year later, another acquisition was made in Winkler & Gaines counties. Office space was then leased in our current building consisting of over 4000 square feet. We continue to evaluate new acquisitions that meet our interest of being in West Texas & are legacy vertical wells that still have life & are solid producing wells that may just need some TLC to keep them producing.
